Meecut FAQ: Saving, Tracking, Billing and Privacy

Updated: 2026-10-28 · 7 min read

This is a single page of answers to what people ask most, grouped by topic: saving, tracking, account and billing, and privacy and safety. Each answer tries to state its conditions and limits rather than just “yes” or “no.” If what you need is not here, the contact email is in the footer.

Saving a single item

Do I need to log in or register?

You never need to log in to Instagram or give an Instagram password. Without signing up you can paste a link and save, but there is a daily limit and only the first slide of a carousel is saved. With a Meecut account (email or Google) the limit is higher and you can save whole carousels.

Which links work?

Links to public posts (/p/) and Reels (/reel/). Profile, Stories and Explore links are not single items, and IGTV is not supported.

Is it the original image?

Meecut saves the highest-quality file Instagram provides, with no watermark and no extra compression. It cannot be sharper than the version Instagram itself keeps; see why Instagram has no save-original button.

Where do saved files go?

A single save first appears under “Just collected.” If you neither download it nor add it to a person within 24 hours, it is cleared automatically, so deal with it while it is there.

What if a save fails?

Check that the link is from a public account, the post still exists and you copied a post or Reel link. Symptom-by-symptom help is in the troubleshooting guide, and failed tasks can be retried.

Why was only one slide of my carousel saved?

Without an account only the first slide is saved. Sign in and paste the same link again to save the whole set.

Account tracking

How often are accounts checked?

Every 6 hours by default, which is also the shortest interval on every plan. Each check looks at new posts and at Stories that are live at that moment.

Which accounts can be tracked?

Only public accounts. Private accounts return no content; see public vs. private accounts.

Will the account owner know I am tracking them?

Meecut does not use your Instagram account and does not follow the owner, so you do not appear in their followers or among Story viewers.

What if my tracking slots are full?

Remove accounts you no longer need, or move to a plan with more slots.

Can I back-fill old posts?

Yes. Back-filling uses lifetime credits; whatever does not fit is parked and can be completed with a retry after you upgrade or buy a credit pack.

Account, trial and billing

Is there a free trial?

New accounts can try Standard free for 30 days. A payment method is required up front, nothing is charged during the trial, the plan you choose is billed automatically after 30 days, and you can cancel any time during the trial at no cost.

How do I cancel?

Sign in, open “Manage billing” under Subscription and cancel on the billing page.

What differs between the three plans?

Mainly how long files are kept on the server (Standard 7 days, Pro 90 days, Premium permanently), the number of accounts you can track and the monthly capture allowance. The plans on the page show the current numbers.

Will I be reminded before the trial ends?

Yes. You receive an email 3 days and 1 day before it ends, stating the date, the amount and how to cancel.

Privacy and safety

Does Meecut read my Instagram account?

No. Meecut does not log in to Instagram; it only reads the public links or public profiles you give it.

What permission does Google Drive sync need?

Only the minimal drive.file scope: Meecut can see and edit only the files it created itself and cannot read anything else in your Drive. You can disconnect or revoke it at any time.

Can I repost or use saved content commercially?

Copyright belongs to the original creator. Personal collection and study are fine; get permission before reposting, remixing or commercial use. See copyright and fair use.

What if a creator does not want their content saved?

Please tell us the account and link through the contact page and we will look into it.
